COMEDY
San Francisco was the breeding ground for many young comedians from the 70’ to the 90’s. It was the punk scene of comedy and Pat Johnson Photography was the Photographer of choice.
Robin Williams, Ellen Degenres, Dana Carvey and Kevin Pollack were a few of many young comics. Throughout Pats career he has photographed such icons as Rodney Dangerfield, Dick Gregory, Joan Rivers and Jamie Foxx, who also stepped in front of hid camera. Being the chief photographer of the Rrazz Room Pat also shot a whole different genre of Comics like Mort Sahl, Judy Tenuta, Sandra Bernard and a bunch of Drag Acts like Lypsinka. “I was deeply influenced by the early British LP covers of the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Kinks and the Yardbirds, they painted themselves in my psyche. I adored David Bailey and Richard Avedon. Those were my heroes.”
