BLUES

The Blues! There is nothing cooler than the Blues, it is pure American music and the birthplace of Rock & Roll. Right from the start in 1974, Pat Johnson Photography has been shooting blues musicians. Pat’s first credited photo on an LP was Elvin Bishop’s (original guitarist in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band ) “ Juke Joint Jump”.  Photographing numerous covers for Alligator records and Blind Pig records ( both the leading Blues labels ), has kept Pats camera shooting legendary artists. Over the course of Pats career he has photographed the top Blues artists, from John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy to Taj Mahal and a host of others. His Blues catalog is quite extensive.

“I was deeply influenced by the early British LP covers of the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Kinks and the Yardbirds, they painted themselves in my psyche. I adored David Bailey and Richard Avedon. Those were my heroes.”
